Para-Educator Job Description
General Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the building administrator, the para-educator will work throughout the school, supporting students in a safe and respectful atmosphere. The Para-Educator will work with students directly and under the classroom teachers' direction.
Key Responsibilities
Dress in appropriate, clean attire
Sit, stand, and stoop frequently
Support a safe and respectful atmosphere throughout the school
Demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability when interacting with students
Evaluate situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing appropriate personnel for resolution
Support problem solving
Report incidents to the Building Administrator
Respect the confidentiality of students
Determine, based on weather and safety concerns, whether recess will be inside or outside
Foster a positive and inclusive environment
Actively engage in physical activities with students
Assist students at the direction of the classroom teacher
Communicate and collaborate with classroom teachers using established professional agreements
Provide individual student assistance with teacher/administrator guidance
Prepare student lunches
Provide basic cleaning of the lunch area
Other duties as assigned
Employment Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with children and in an educational setting
Experience in a related supervisory position
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI
Employment Information
· Annual Assignment: 180 duty days
· Salary Range: 17.46 – 21.83/hour

Para-Educator Job Duties
This job is 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (not including non-school days and holidays). Please communicate all scheduling conflicts as soon as possible to plan for coverage of your duties.
Support to Teacher and Students throughout School
Support a safe and respectful atmosphere throughout the school
Use respectful and age-appropriate language with and around students
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working with and around students
Demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability when interacting with students
Address behavior issues promptly and report any concerns to the appropriate staff
Assist students at the direction of the classroom teacher
Prepare materials for teachers as requested
Lunchroom & Recess
Foster a positive and inclusive physical education environment
Provide guidance, support, and feedback to students throughout the class
Actively participate in activities with students
Heat and prepare student lunches
Encourage children to finish their lunches before beginning recess
Determine, based on weather and safety concerns, whether recess will be inside or outside
Foster a safe and inclusive environment during playground activities
Clean tables, chairs, and microwave with warm soapy water
Leave refrigerator and cupboards clean and tidy
Mop and clean spills as needed

3:00 Overseas students as they exit the building
3:00- 3:30 Take down the flag + support picking up office area
