Family Liaison Job Description
General Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the building administrator, the family liaison will serve as a conduit to supports, language access and other, for Roosevelt families.
Key Responsibilities
•Support a safe and welcoming environment for Roosevelt family members
•Demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability when interacting with individuals.
Provide direct service support to families during set hours throughout the week.
•Work collaboratively with other school site personnel as appropriate to identify language access needs of parents/guardians and other family members
•Communicate to families and community members on the availability of language access resources and how to access them
•Respond in a timely and appropriate manner to requests and inquiries regarding language access from a variety of stakeholders, including family members, other community members, relevant state agencies, and school site personnel, among others
Skills/abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders and audiences, including families, school and district personnel, and community-based groups
• Demonstrated ability to be well-organized and to be able to readily locate and access relevant resources and reference materials
• Ability to represent the school district in ways consistent with district and board policy and obligations
Knowledge
• Knowledge or budding knowledge of local community-based organizations and advocacy groups
• Knowledge or budding knowledge of professional organizations which have to do with spoken and signed language interpretation and written translation
Employment Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with children and in an educational setting
• Experience in a related position
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED preferred, or willingness to pursue a GED
• Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI
Employment Information
• Annual Assignment: 180 duty days
• This job is 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (not including non-school days and holidays). Please communicate all scheduling conflicts as soon as possible to plan for coverage of your duties.
• Salary Range: 17.46 – 21.83/hour
